Housing Aid for Older People Grant Offers Up to €10,700 for Essential Repairs

The Housing Aid for Older People Grant is a government scheme providing up to €10,700 for essential home repairs. Aimed primarily at individuals aged 66 and over living in substandard conditions, the grant can also assist younger individuals facing genuine hardship.

Administered by local authorities, it covers 100% of adaptation work, including repairs to roofs, windows, doors, electrical wiring, and central heating installations.

Notably, from January 1, 2025, the grant cannot be used to purchase fossil fuel boilers.

Eligibility is means-tested, with full grants available to households earning less than €37,000 annually and partial support for incomes up to €75,000.

Landlords with elderly tenants or properties requiring significant repairs may find this grant beneficial in maintaining their properties and supporting tenant welfare.
