RTB Highlights Performance of Rent Pressure Zones
The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) reports that Rent Pressure Zones (RPZs) are performing well, particularly in Dublin, where rental increases averaged just 1.3% last year.
Despite discussions about potentially abolishing RPZs, RTB CEO Rosemary Steen emphasized that the decision lies with the government.
Data indicates that approximately 75% of rental increases in RPZs since 2022 have been within the 2% legal limit. The RTB plans to continue analysing the effectiveness of RPZs and is focusing on regulating non-compliant actors in the sector.
Additionally, the RTB’s data shows a rise in the number of landlords and a significant decline in notices of termination, suggesting improved stability in the rental market.
